The abstractions of tangible and intangible qualities that influence human emotion and experience in the post-modernism architecture; a study of qualities of poetics, wabi sabi and monumental presence of the architecture of the critical regionalist, Tadao Ando.

Spatial Enclosure:

A monotonous rectangular volume made of three squares. A voided-patio to expose to the nature.

 

Wabi-Sabi essence:

The concrete materiality, replicating the mountain retreat.

 

Nature:

The presence of natural weather – Light, Sky, Wind, Rain, Snow, Fog.

 

Center of Universe:

Three key points with the presence of the existence of “Center of Universe”.

Spatial Enclosure:

Two different volume of square framed to view the surrounding context. L Shaped wall shielding the centrality.

 

Wabi-Sabi essence:

The concrete materiality. Man-made water pond to provide calmness that seamlessly knitted to the landscape

 

Nature:

The presence of landscape of trees and mountain.

 

Center of universe:

One key points with the presence of the existence of “Center of Universe”.

 

Turning points by Geometrical Disruption:

Point 1 – transition from one to another

Point 2 – Enter the Light Box

Point 3 – descended from stairway to face the landscape

Spatial Enclosure:

The rectangular volume, obliquely-angled plane that dissect through the box creates a journey towards the light box of emptiness.

 

Wabi-Sabi essence:

The concrete materiality as a meditative element on the dark interior where slits of light flooded in. Signifying  a mountain retreat. The light complimented by the shadow shows imperfectness.

 

Nature:

The presence of light, a clear reduction of natural elements to greatly emphasize on the holiness.

 

Center of Universe:

one key points with the presence of the existence of “Center of Universe”.

 

Turning points by Geometrical Disruption:

Point 1: Face the angled interior to force one to turn

Point 2: First transition point from the open to enclose.

Point 3: Facing the crucifix void.

Spatial Enclosure:

The elliptical enclosed two smaller volume of space to blend with the context. A stark experience in terms of scale, mood from one to another.

 

Wabi-Sabi essence:

The concrete materiality & the reference to the vermillion red Traditional Japanese Temple

 

Nature:

The presence of lotus and calmness in the water, the mountain, bamboo and gravels.

 

Center of universe:

Two key points with the presence of the existence of “Center of Universe”..

 

Turning points by Geometrical Disruption:

Point 1 – 4 involves with purification, Point 5 is where one is enclosed in a spiritual state.

Spatial Enclosure:

The arcing enclosure that follows the site context yet and contextualizing of the mind of  Shiba Ryotaro

Wabi-Sabi essence:

The concrete materiality, a “Shinto” as repositories of Shiba Ryotaro.

 

Nature:

The presence of garden of trees - love of  Shiba Ryotaro.

 

Center of Universe:

One key points with the presence of the existence of “Center of Universe”.

 

Turning points by Geometrical Disruption:

Point 1 - Bright transition with nature

Point 2 receive a radical change of experience as one goes into the dark interior

Point 3 - Happening of “Center of Universe.”
